COVID-19 SAFETY PLAN

I. PREVENTION MEASURES

HYGIENE PRACTICES

• Clean your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds - before you eat and at the end of the workday, during the
work shift whenever possible, and when you get home from work.
• Do not shake hands; avoid physical contact.
• Do not share food, drinks, cigarettes, personal hand tools.
• Do not touch your face, eyes, nose, mouth with unwashed hands (i.e., smoking, drinking water, eating, etc.)
• Follow good respiratory etiquette by covering your mouth and nose with a disposable tissue or the crease of your elbow when you sneeze or cough.
• Do not spit on worksites.

MEETINGS AND SAFETY MEETINGS

• Meetings and safety meetings must be held in an open space where physical distancing can be followed.
• Where possible, meetings will be conducted by phone or web-conferencing.
• Workers should not congregate in common areas for coffee or lunch breaks.

JOB SITES

• Everyone MUST wear a mask if physical distancing of 2 meters cannot be maintained when working on site.
• Signage promoting physical distancing will be posted at the job sites.
• Reduce the number of people on-site to facilitate social distancing of meters between workers. If and whenever
possible, only one sub-trade will be allowed at a job site at a given time.
• Clean out Jobsite trailers daily - arrange for commercial cleaners to clean and disinfect areas of the project.
• Regularly clean and disinfect commonly touched surfaces.
• Wear PPE when applicable - safety goggles, masks, and gloves.
• Avoid passing each other on the stairs. Wait on the landing until the person has exited the stairs.
• Where work is done in crews, the work is planned to minimize or eliminate the crossover of workers between crews.
• The job site's safety officer is responsible for ensuring appropriate health and safety measures have been
implemented and the proper health authorities' directions concerning workers returning to work following a presumed or confirmed case of COVID-19.
• Contractors are to conduct periodic audits (frequency to be determined based on project scale and scope) to verify that the appropriate measures have been implemented and are maintained.

TOOLS

• Tools are not to be shared by employees or sub-trades to minimize physical contact.
• If you must share equipment, clean and disinfect points of contact on the equipment.

HAND SANITIZING STATIONS AND WASHROOM

• Hand sanitizing stations are available at each job site, and each employee must sanitize upon entering and exiting the job site.
• Handwashing/sanitizing signage will be posted where applicable.
• Portable toilets are provided at the job site with a sanitizing station.

II. DETECTION MEASURES

• Before entering the site, individuals must confirm that:

o They are not currently exhibiting flu-like symptoms such as fever, tiredness, coughing, or congestion;
o They have not returned from outside of Canada within the past 14 days;
o To the best of their knowledge, they have not been in contact with someone with a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19; and
o They have not been working on a site that was shut down due to the virus.

•Individuals at increased risk of serious illness (due to age, pregnancy or other medical condition) are not to be
permitted on site.

III. RESPONSE MEASURES

STAFFING PROTOCOL - ILLNESS POLICY

• If you are feeling sick, do not come to work. We can require you to stay home if you feel sick with Covid-19 like symptoms.
• Individuals who have been potentially exposed to the virus or who are exhibiting flu-like symptoms such as fever, tiredness, coughing, or congestion are instructed to:

o Not come to work;
o Contact their supervisor and/or human resources department;
o Stay at home and self-isolate; and
o Contact local health authorities for further direction.

• Anyone with symptoms of COVID-19, including fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat and painful
swallowing, must self-isolate at home for a minimum of 10 days.
• We require staff to refrain from coming to work if they have had close exposure to a person currently diagnosed with COVID-19.
• If you are concerned about another staff displaying Covid-19 symptoms, let a manager know.
• Individuals who begin to display flu-like symptoms on-site are instructed to avoid touching anything, take extra care to contain coughs and sneezes, and return home immediately to undergo self-isolation as directed by the local health authority.
• All areas on-site potentially infected by a confirmed or probable case are barricaded to keep individuals two metres away until the area is properly cleaned and disinfected.
